Did you get an alarming Microsoft email?
If you’ve been keeping up with your emails, you might have noticed some critical messages from Microsoft. These emails inform you that the Azure AD Graph APIs are being retirng and need to be converted to Microsoft Graph. This notification can be quite alarming for many, as it signals a significant change that requires attention, and most Office 365 users have no idea what these things are.
Migrate Service Principals from the retiring Azure AD Graph APIs to Microsoft Graph
Is your story like mine?
You get this alarming email from Microsoft that says you have new recommendations for “Technoogies” or whatever your company is. It says, “Migrate service principles from the retiring Azure AD Graph APIs to Microsoft Graph.”
I click on the link, which takes me to the Azure portal. It displays only one item under “Impacted resources,” which says Microsoft Office. Over on the right-hand side, there’s a link. You click on it for details. It opens up a dialogue that has another link. You click on that for more information and it displays a blank page.
I figured maybe they were having a problem, so I waited a while and clicked on it again, and got the same thing. I waited another day and clicked on it again, and it was still blank. That’s when I spent a couple of hours digging around trying to figure out what I was supposed to do.
I finally did a Google search for “Azure AD Graph app migration.” I clicked on a bunch of stuff, not finding any answers. Then I finally started clicking on the questions and answers links of Microsoft Learn. That took me to an accepted answer that said, get this, “Hi, you can ignore.” Yep, that’s all it said. It had a link that took me to another page, which gave a little more detail.
In short, the item that gave me the information I needed said, if you’re finding Microsoft Office application ID of D3590ED6-52B3-4102-AEFF-AAD2292AB01C, you can safely ignore that.
Why didn’t they add that to the email and save everyone the panic?
There you have it. As Shakespeare once titled a play, Much Ado About Nothing.
Notice: If you have apps that need migrated
